getting on for

11 hits in the BNC mostly indicating a moment in time e.g.,
It was getting on for`good night' time
her teenage fans are getting on for grandparenthood

The most interesting structure, and not marking a moment in time but "standards":
Man of the match. It was getting on for Tony-Coton-at-Man-City-last-august standards ...

Anywhere interesting

As the sts were wandering in to class, I was asking them individually, Have you been anywhere interesting recently?

One student after another couldn't understand. Eventually they told me that the construction "anywhere interesting" was unfathomable. The BNC was promptly consulted and revealed on 3 examples. "anywhere + adj" only showed up 31 hits.
